Introduction
In a professional environment, there are some instances where people are generally biased about others, their job roles, and even during hiring. Sometimes it happens consciously, but sometimes it happens unconsciously. It is inherent in our nature to weigh and judge, but biased hiring is detrimental to making well-informed decisions. The recruitment industry is already suffering from talent shortage, growing skill gaps, and uncertain times ahead. During such times, personal bias is the last thing that should be worried about.

Ethical Recruitment & Selection
Hiring employees legally, fairly, openly, and in a way that upholds and defends their rights is known as ethical recruitment.

In ethical recruitment, there are some important components to consider,

  • Respect for candidate's rights
  • Diversity and Inclusion

There are moral as well as legal reasons for this to be significant. Discrimination in hiring can result in negative legal effects as well as damage to an organization's reputation.

Secondly, the establishment of a diverse and inclusive workforce is facilitated by ethical recruitment procedures. An organization's success depends on having a diverse workforce since it brings together individuals with a range of backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints. This may result in more inventiveness, creativity, and improved problem-solving skills.

Thirdly, a company may draw in and keep great people by using ethical recruitment processes. Organizations that exhibit ethical principles and practices are likely to draw in more candidates. Positive employer branding may arise from this, giving employers a competitive edge in the labor market.
